TheRealists are a group of people concerned about the impact that current government policies regarding immigration, multiculturalism, and the welfare state are having upon Australian society.

Immigration

Immigration to Australia will increase in 2008/09 for the tenth year running.

TheRealists are not opposed to moderate and managed immigration; however we believe that the large numbers of immigrants currently coming to Australia adversely impacts the quality of life of those already living in Australia, adding to the problems of congestion, overcrowding and integration.

TheRealists provide facts and expose myths about the impact of immigration on Australian society.

Multiculturalism

Multiculturalism undoubtedly brings some benefits to Australian society, however the negative impacts of such a policy outweigh these benefits.

TheRealists support international multiculturalism, whereby multiculturalism is constructed and maintained internationally, and not within nations. The survival of an international multicultural community is preferable to multiculturalism replacing cultures within nations.

Research from around the world shows that multiculturalism within nations weakens communities rather than strengthening them, and that members of multicultural societies are less trusting and caring towards each other than more homogeneous societies.

TheRealists challenge the status quo and call for both an end to the official government policy of multiculturalism, and a change to immigration policy in order to give priority to immigrants that have traditionally integrated successfully into Australian society.

Welfare State

The rise of the welfare state over the past 30 to 40 years has had a negative impact on Australian society. With Australia’s increasing spending on welfare has come a corresponding increase in crime and other negative social problems that were not so prevalent forty years ago.

Two thirds of what the government currently collects in taxes is spent on welfare. From very low welfare levels forty years ago, welfare payments are now the sole source of income for one in six working age adults.

TheRealists show how well meaning welfare policies provide bad outcomes for both the people that welfare is meant to assist as well as society in general.
